Resenting attack: Doctors of IMA and APNA taking out a rally in Karimnagar on Monday.

KARIMNAGAR: Private nursing homes and hospitals in Karimnagar town, which observed three-day bandh from Friday to Sunday to protest against the attack on a private nursing home by a mob, which included some TDP leaders, re-opened their hospitals and clinics on Monday following an assurance given by the State Government.

Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad governing council member E. Vijayender Reddy said that a delegation led by him and IMA State president Narsinga Reddy, secretary Ravinder Rao, national coordinator N. Appa Rao and others met Chief Minister Y.S. Rajashekhar Reddy and briefed him about the brutal attack on the private nursing home alleging negligence of doctors for the death of a patient .

The Chief Minister assured the delegation of stern action against the attackers and also instructed the police to arrest the accused.

Collector M.V. Satyanarayana also assured the IMA delegation that the culprits would be arrested. He also promised private doctors of registering criminal cases against those involved in the attack manhandling of hospital staff.

Security

The Collector instructed the police officials to shift the dead body of the patient from the hospital within an hour after death to maintain peace. He said a monitoring cell comprising the DRO, the DSP and IMA members of the district would be constituted to review security arrangements at hospitals.

Earlier, the IMA and APNA district unit doctors took out a massive rally in Karimnagar town denouncing the attack on private hospitals. The rally went through all-important streets of the town. IMA and APNA leaders – M.L.N. Reddy, Vasantha Rao, Shyam Sunder, Yakaiah, Ramana Chary, and others participated.
