This Day That Age
The Deputy Railway Minister, Mr. Shah Nawaz Khan, told the Lok Sabha on August 26 that proposals for introducing a pension-cum-gratuity scheme for the Railway staff had been finalised and would come into operation for all new entrants from April 1 this year. Mr. Shah Nawaz Khan, who was replying to Mr. S.N. Das, added that this was similar to the pension scheme with death-cum-retirement gratuity applicable to other Central Government servants. So far as those already in service were concerned, they could either opt for the new scheme or keep to the present arrangement.
