CHENNAI: Lanson Toyota, the dealer-partner of Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd., India, has launched a showroom and service facility at Velachery, near Chennai. Ryoichi Sasaki, Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, India, and Managing Officer, Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan, inaugurated the showroom on Sunday last. Lankalingam. M, Managing Director, Lanson Toyota, told presspersons that the 1.20 lakh sq. ft. facility, which was spread over 1.3 acres, was the company’s fourth showroom in Chennai and sixth in Tamil Nadu. It was the largest outlet and service facility set up by any car manufacturer in India and was equipped to service 200 cars a day, Mr. Lankalingam said. He said the showroom would be able to provide ‘Express Service,’ which involved servicing a car in one hour, in six months’ time. The Velachery facility also offered customers a “see-through workshop,” he said. “We deal with around 20,000 customers in Chennai,” Mr. Lankalingam said, adding that Lanson Toyota would open another showroom in the city next year, probably in Nungumbakkam. A 12,000 sq. ft. pre-owned car showroom would also be functional by next month in Nilankarai, he said. He said a new version of the Corolla, Toyota’s premium midsize segment car, would be unveiled by March 2008. The company had no immediate plans of rolling out a ‘small car,’ Mr. Lankalingam said.
