Organised by Andhra Loyola College Students from different colleges performed
VIJAYAWADA: Setting greater goals and making all round efforts towards excellence inspire the themes of cultural and literary festivals organised by the city colleges nowadays. Those at the helm of affairs in the colleges make every effort to prepare the students for challenges that greet them in the form of competitive examinations and job interviews once they come out of the campus. Reflecting this matchless competitive spirit, the Andhra Loyola College (ALC) organised ‘Spandana-2007’ on Monday to provide a platform to students of various colleges and enable them to bring out their latent talents in various fields. From quiz to debating, a range of competitions were conducted for students. Addressing the inaugural function, Regional Inspection Officer of the Board of Intermediate Education K. Phaneendra Rao called upon the students to pursue their studies with passion and vigour, which could indicate their urge for excellence. He pointed out that a student’s future largely depends on the seeds sown in intermediate. Mr. Rao advised the students to be ever vigilant and hard working, so that they would be able to learn all aspects of the subjects and taste its fruits ultimately. “The first step towards a better future is discipline. The students’ sincere efforts will produce good results and there will be good rewards,” he pointed out. Noted career guidance expert M.C. Das drew the attention of the young ones to the message behind the title ‘Spandana’. “In this beautiful world, we have to make sincere efforts. Our response to anything should be positive. Spandana means a constructive response,” he explained. Mr. Das said people’s response to different situations should not be of anger or frustration or depression, but it should convey good intentions and a natural urge to do well to one and all. “It is good to see so many students competing in literary and cultural competitions. Artistic pursuits purify us. These are important than just acquiring knowledge,” he observed. Rector P. Anthony, Correspondent J. Thainese, Principal S. Emmanuel, Intermediate wing Vice-Principal S. Raju, ALC Staff Association Chairman S.P. Rama Raju and Spandana-2007 Coordinator D. Venkata Satish and others were present. Many students from various colleges participated in the cultural and literary programmes.
