Reckless act: Bajrang Dal volunteers wandering in Dindigul on Monday.

DINDIGUL: More than 300 members of Bajrang Dal including 50 women were forced to alight at Dindigul railway station on Monday and some others near Balakrishanpuram railway gate by the railway police and other passengers as they travelled without tickets in reserved compartments of Nagercoil-Mumbai Express.

All they have are identity cards bearing a slogan ‘Rameswaram-Ramar Sethu Vetika Raksha’ and their name and address and nothing else. They boarded the train in Madurai to go to their native villages across Andhra Pradesh.

When they occupied the reserved compartments, other passengers reportedly protested their presence and informed the police at Dindigul railway station.

When they refused to get off from the train, the police beat them and pushed some of them from the train at Dindigul station.

Some of them had received minor injuries.

Several volunteers from Andhra Pradesh told that their party leaders in Andhra Pradesh told them that this card would suffice to travel in trains.

With no way to go home, they were roaming on the streets at Anumanthanagar, an outskirt of Dindigul.

On information, local leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party came to their rescue and put them up at a school.
