HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam Party has organised protest and peace rallies all over the State on Tuesday to denounce the twin blasts here that claimed the lives of 40 innocent persons.

Wearing black badges and shouting slogans, the TDP leaders and cadre burnt down effigies of “terrorism” at various places. Even while castigating the Government for failing to prevent the blasts and protecting the lives of the people, they appealed to the people to maintain calm.

Here in Secunderabad, the city TDP led by president G. Sayanna organised a rally at the Mahatma Gandhi’s statue.

Senior leaders, Lal Jan Basha, T. Devender Goud, E. Peddi Reddy, K. Vijayarama Rao, E. Dayakar Rao, and several MLAs and MLCs participated.

Mr. Goud blamed the Government for the twin blasts. Instead of accepting responsibility and acting firmly to prevent recurrence of such incidents, Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was passing the buck.

Mr. Vijayarama Rao, a former CBI director, said the Government paid a price for not acting promptly and effectively on the intelligence inputs it received from the Centre. Mr. Basha recalled how there was no communal flare-up in the city during the TDP rule.

Similar rallies

Reports from districts received by the party headquarters here showed that similar rallies were taken out in Assembly constituencies and district headquarters.
