BERHAMPUR: Oriya translation of famous Telugu poetic work by Nagnamuni – Koyya Gurram – was released in the city on Tuesday. It was translated by U. Anuradha, an academician of the city. The Oriya translation of this Telugu poetic classic of modern era was named ‘Kathaghoda’. Veteran Telugu journalist from Hyderabad K.V. Laxmi and president of the local Andhra Sanskruti Samity S.V. Rama Rao were present at the book release ceremony as guests. Speaking at the function, Ms. Anuradha described the importance of Nagnamunni and his translated works in Indian literary world. In his book, Nagnamuni depicted the present bureaucracy as a wooden horse which is worshipped by common mass with the false hope that it would take them to wonderful heights of development. Nagnamuni had written this work after the devastating cyclone that areas of Andhra Pradesh had faced in 1977. Ms. Laxmi said the people of Orissa can easily identify with this work of Nagnamuni as people of this region also faced the devastation of super cyclone in 1999 as well as the indifference of bureaucracy towards the plight of the people. The dignitaries present at the function were of the opinion that more translations of famous works of Telugu into Oriya and vice versa had to be done to bring people of both these adjoining states together.
