Rare gesture

Disha Global, a Kochi-based non-governmental organisation, conferred the Rachel Carson endowment on M.K. Prasad, environmentalist, last week.

The award was presented to mark the birth centenary of Ms. Carson, who highlighted the impact of pesticides on mankind in her work the Silent Spring. The recognition supports those striving to protect the environment.
