VISAKHAPATNAM: Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao has expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the ‘Arogya Sri’ scheme. He met patients undergoing treatment under the scheme at CARE Hospital and Seven Hills Hospital here on Tuesday. Addressing the media outside the Seven Hills Hospital, he said that beneficiaries were very happy to get state-of-the-art medical treatment at corporate hospitals. He said it was unfortunate that though India has some of the best health care facilities and doctors, poor patients were not in a position to afford the same. World class facilities
Mr. Prasada Rao said that the availability of world class facilities at our hospitals was drawing even foreigners. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who is a doctor himself, was perturbed by the fact that poor patients were denied these facilities. He had formulated the Arogya Sri scheme for provision of medical treatment to the poor at corporate hospitals. He said the scheme was already under implementation in Mahabubnagar, Anantapur and Srikakulam districts. It would be extended to five more districts in the State by November. MLAs -- Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and T. Gurumurthy Reddy -- VUDA Chairman P.S.N. Raju, Srikakulam ZP Chairman P. Rajsekharam and in-charge DMHO Balasundara Rao were among those who accompanied the Minister.
