Govt. decision on bars criticised

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Catholic Archdiocese has reacted strongly to the Delhi Government’s decision to allow bars to remain open up to 1 a.m. and increasing from seven to 50 the number of days when they can remain open up to 2 a.m.

In a statement, the Archbishop of Delhi, Vincent M. Concessao, said: “The Government it seems is more interested in earning revenue rather than welfare of the people. There are more urgent needs in the city where thousands of people go hungry to bed.”
