DPI to buy books for libraries

Thiruvananthapuram: The Director of Public Instruction (DPI) proposes to buy books for the libraries of the secondary, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools under it using the grant sanctioned by the 12th Finance Commission. He has asked writers, publishers and book sellers to provide lists of books to him for the purpose. The books required include reference books, books on Malayalam language and literature and science and social science books in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Sanskrit, Urdu and Arabic. The science reference books should have been published after January 1, 2003. Details such the maximum discount which will be given should accompany the lists. It should reach the DPI before September 10. Only books which are useful to school libraries will be considered. The details regarding it can be had from Senior AO or Planning Section in the DPI Office. – Special Correspondent
