Farmers to get developed land
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: In a bid to make farmers provide land for industrial purposes, the Karnataka Government issued an order making it mandatory for the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board to allot a portion of the developed land to those whose lands were acquired.
Minister for Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu told presspersons here on Tuesday that a large number of farmers were opposing land acquisition for industrial projects even at the market rate. This prompted the Government to formulate a policy by which farmers would be given 8,500 sq. ft of developed land for each acre of land acquired from them. No cash compensation would be paid to farmers in case the acquisition was more than 10 guntas of land.
