HYDERABAD: The presence of a considerable number of terror operatives in the city (as opposed to local support teams) is being ruled out by police, who are probing Saturday’s blasts here. However, top sources said that “a few could have certainly slipped in and out of the city at regular intervals due to the soft approach of the police.” The absence of regular ‘smoking out and neutralising’ operations combined with the ‘perfect ambience’ created by local politicians has given rise to new shelters, the sources added. A four-member committee of officials constituted after the blasts is now probing this angle too — the failure of the law and order machinery to neutralise the terrorists in spite of the presence of efficient officers at various levels. This is bound to be contrasted with the successes achieved earlier. Six Pakistan-based terror modules were busted in the city between April 2004 and April 2007.
