BEIJING: The 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is scheduled to convene in Beijing on October 15. The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee decided at a meeting on Tuesday to make the proposal to the seventh Plenum of the 16th CPC Central Committee, which will be held here on October 9. Tuesday’s meeting, presided over by CPC General Secretary and Chinese President Hu Jintao, also discussed the preparatory work for these two meetings. The meeting said the 17th CPC National Congress is a very important one as it is being held at a time when China has entered a key stage in its reform and development. — Xinhua
