Thiruvananthapuram: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has commended the policemen for their efforts in maintaining law and order during the Onam celebrations in the capital city. Delivering the inaugural address at the valedictory of the Government-sponsored Onam celebrations at the Poojappura maidan here on Tuesday, Mr. Balakrishnan expressed satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the festival. Thousands of people thronged the grounds to witness the closing ceremony. Presiding over the function, V. Sivankutty, MLA, said the celebrations were held in a flawless manner. “There was not even a phone call to register a complaint,” he said. Ward councillors Karamana Hari, K. Maheswaran Nair, Unnikrishnan Nair, S. Lekha and Rajasekharan Nair, managing director of the Tourism Development Corporation K.G. Mohanlal and Tourism Director Sanjay Kaul were present on the occasion.
