Local businessman manufactures such clocks in his firm at Balanagar and sells them through six dealers
HYDERABAD: The timepieces used in the three bombs - the two which exploded at Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat and the third unexploded at Dilsukhnagar - were made and bought in Hyderabad, it is learnt. Sources said a local businessman manufactures such clocks in his industrial unit at Balanagar and sells through six dealers located in different parts of the city. He also has a shop christened Susamay Marketing Private Limited accommodated on the first floor of a commercial complex in Palace Talkies compound at Abids. Some of these clocks are sold with the brand name ‘Prince’ three of which were used in the bombs. Costing Rs.105, the timepiece found in the live bomb at Dilsukhnagar was red while that in the bomb which exploded at Gokul Chat was blue. The model number of these timepieces was 2760. Police inquiries revealed that the bags used for keeping the bombs at the blast site were purchased from Begum Bazar. Meanwhile, the overenthusiasm of television news channels to claim credit for breaking news created confusion here on Tuesday when they mistook a man held on theft attempt charge for the suspect in the twin blasts case. The man in question, Mohd. Abdullah, 30, hailing from Assam, was reportedly caught by locals while trying to break into a house in a colony at Bowenpally on Monday night He sustained injuries after the angry crowd beat him up and was shifted to Gandhi Hospital. Rumours spread that Abdullah sustained a wound while triggering the bombs on Saturday last. Startled over the reports, the Bowenpally police rushed to the hospital and brought him to police station for questioning after he was treated by the doctors. Inquiries confirmed that he was in no way connected to the explosions. Meanwhile, picking up the rumours doing the rounds, some television channels began running scrolls that police took a suspect into custody in connection with the twin blasts but eventually withdrew the scrolls. Toll up
The toll in the twin blasts rose to 41 with Srinivas Prasad, 45, undergoing treatment at Care Hospital succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday. The victim’s son, Harhavardhan, alleged that the delay in shifting his father to hospital resulted in deterioration of the latter’s condition. Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh announced that 100 special teams had been formed to work round-the-clock to step up security in the city. Each team would be headed by an officer of the rank of Sub-Inspector and eight other members.
