TAMBARAM: Two houses in different localities near here were targetted by burglars in the past few days.
In Peerkankaranai, the house of a retired Chennai Telephones employee was broken into and gold jewels weighing about 30 sovereigns and Rs. 25,000 burgled. The burglary came to light on Monday evening. The pensioner and his relatives were not in Chennai and returned on Monday evening after attending a family function in Kallakurichi. Peerkankaranai police are investigating.
In Periyar Nagar near Pallavaram, a business man and his relatives had gone out of Chennai to attend a house warming function. When they returned on Monday evening, they noticed the door and almirah broken open and about 15 sovereigns of gold jewels missing.
