TIRUCHI: Kamba Ramayanam is a treasure of Tamil literature and has various facets and applications in other fields such as management techniques, economy and commerce.
Poet Kamban had composed the verses meticulously and an in-depth analysis of the epic would reflect his mastery in not only the classical language but also in other branches of study, observed speakers at the Kamban Vizha organised by the Tiruchi Tamil Sangam on Saturday.
An interesting session to bring out the Kamba Ramayanam’s guidelines and principles on economy, commerce and management formed the highlight of the festival. The Tamil scholar, S. Sathyaseelan, chaired the session.
The former Executive Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, V. Gopalakrishnan, spoke on the relevance of Kamba Ramayanam in management. The noted poet, Arivoli, outlined the principles of economy evolved in the epic, while Rajagopalan interpreted Kamban’s acumen in commerce.
The former Minister and president of the Chennai Kamban Kazhagam, R.M. Veerappan, said that Kambar never allowed any non-Tamil word or alphabet to find a place in his verses. For instance, ‘Dayarathan,’ and ‘Vibeedanan,’ had been used in all the verses, as ‘Dasarathan’ or ‘Vibhishnan,’ contained non-Tamil alphabets.
He also honoured students who secured highest marks in Tamil for Plus Two and SSLC examinations.
The Sangam president, A.R. Annamalai Chettiar, spoke.
