Silverstone: Even as A-1 GP World Cup of motor sport unveiled a series of initiatives for the new season, A-1 Team India was busy working on the set-up of the car at the garage at the Silverstone International Circuit on Tuesday. It worked well for the team as Narain Karthikeyan emerged the fifth quickest out of a bunch of 22 in the first test session. “We want to give our best this season, which starts at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands next month. Our homework basically is to correct those mistakes that we did last year,” Narain said. The Williams test driver said the team was trying many new things. “We need to be different this season. So, we are not just working on the set-up of the car but also trying different lines. What we found out from the test session is that the base set-up is good. It is just that we need to make a couple of mechanical changes,” he said.
“The top 10 looks strong. South Africa, Malaysia, U.S.A., to name a few, all boast of talented and experienced drivers. That doesn’t mean we are pushovers. We are equally strong,” Narain said.
