Arms dump unearthed in Nallamala forest

MAHABUBNAGAR: In a major breakthrough, the Mahabubnagar police have unearthed a dump allegedly belonging to the CPI Maoists and recovered a huge haul of sophisticated ammunition and weapons in Nallamala forest area under Amrabad police station limits.
The weapons were displayed at a press conference here on Wednesday.
This is the second recovery of arms by the police in a month which is a big blow to the Maoists.
The cache of arms includes three rockets, three SLR weapons, two .303 rifles, one tapancha, one 8mm rifle, 230 rounds of SLR, 85 rounds of .303 rifle, 26 rounds of .22 rifle, four rounds of 12 bore gun, 18 grenades, 588 electric detonators, 200 non-electric detonators, one VHF wireless set, two icon scanners, rocket launchers with spare parts and 5 SLR spare magazines.
Speaking to media persons, Superintendent of Police Charu Sinha said that on receipt of credible information about dumps, police parties conducted widespread searchers in the jungle for two days on Monday and Tuesday and were able to uncover the large dump.
