DVAC searches on Valarmathi’s premises

CHENNAI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday conducted searches on 12 premises in the State in connection with a case of accumulation of “disproportionate wealth” against former Social Welfare and Rural Industries Minister B. Valarmathi.
Case registered
According to a DVAC official, a case was registered against Ms.Valarmathi on Tuesday under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly possessing wealth “disproportionate to known sources of her income.”
Following this, the searches were conducted.
Four premises at K.K.Nagar, including the house of Ms.Valarmathi, two at Selaiyur, one each at Valasaravakkam and Chromepet here, and one each at Thazhambur (Kancheepuram district), Vibeeshanapuram near Chidambaram in Cuddalore district, Polivakkam in Tiruvallur district and near Othakadai in Madurai district were searched.
Documents seized
Documents were seized during the operations.
