‘Communication skills vital for engineering students’

You need to know: R. Radhakrishnan, Vice Chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore, speaking at Angel College of Engineering and Technology, Tirupur.

TIRUPUR: Vice-chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore, R. Radhakrishnan has said that effective communication skills were vital for engineering students to compete in the globally competitive environment.

A necessity

Speaking at the first year students’ orientation and registration programme at the Angel College of Engineering and Technology here recently, he said that good communications skills have become a must to succeed in placement interviews.

Monitor academics

Mr. Radhakrishnan stressed that parents also should monitor the academic and other activities of the students.

They should periodically discuss with the faculty about the progress of their children.

He suggested that the students should undergo implant training during vacation.

Online tests

Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the university was mulling over conducting online test to ensure the coverage of syllabus and communication and technical skills of the students.

Quality education

In his presidential address, D. Sachithanantham, president of Angel Institutions, stressed the need of technical institutions to offer quality education in Tirupur.

Aid for loans

He assured help to the students in getting educational loans to pursue higher studies. Professor S. Bhaskar of Kumaraguru College of Technology spoke on `Realising the dreams.’

College principal N. Gunasekaran, trustee Latha Sachithanantham, chief executive officer P. Sivakumar and several others spoke.
