Corrections and clarifications

  • A sentence in a report “KC(J) leaders call on LDF top brass” (Kerala, August 29, 2007, page 1) was: “KC(J) chairman P.J. Joseph and the Minister himself were part of the delegation that called on the Communist P art of India (Marxist) (CPI (M), Communist Part of India (CPI) and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) leaders over the last two days.” It should have been the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of In dia.

  • A sentence in “Sangam Age seal or brockage” (“Newscape” page, August 28, 2007) was: “Dr. Krishnamurthy, however, said it was a brockage.” It should have been “Dr. Krishnamurthy, howe ver, said it was not a brockage.”

  • The heading of a report was “[Chennai] Corporation augments Neel Kamal fleet” (Tamil Nadu edition – Tiruchirapalli, August 28, 2007, page 1). It should have been “Neel Metal”, a reference to the new solid waste management contractor.

  • The eleventh paragraph in a report “ICC backs BCCI, says Speed” (“Sport”, August 29, 2007) was: “On the aspect of former crickets showing a keen interest in administration, Mr. Speed cited New Z ealand’s Martin Snedden, South Africa’s Dave Richardson as good examples of former cricketers involved in administration.” It should have been “On the aspect of former cricketers ….”

  • In a tennis story “Sania-Santangelo win doubles; Bhupati and Zimonjic triumph” (“Sport”, August 27, 2007), the scores in the women’s doubles final were inadvertently left out both in the report and the results section. Sania Mirza and her Italian partner Mara Santangelo beat Cara Black (Zimbabwe) and Liezel Huber (South Africa) 6-1, 6-2. The report was on the Pilot Pen tournament at New Haven, U.S.

  • James Anderson had a four-wicket haul in the World Cup 2003 against the Netherlands, and not against New Zealand as was published in a report “Anderson is well and truly back” (“Sport”, August 23, 2007).
