‘No matter what we will stand together’ Citizens Take

One thing that is important to know about Hyderabad is the spirit of the city. Initially people were disturbed by the two events but then Hyderabadis are known for their cool kind of perspective to life. The evening after the blasts, people returned.

Terrorists expect the people to react in a certain way, but the people refused to react that way. Instead, people were composed.

Yes people are hurt, people are angry.

But they did not take their anger out and came onto the roads because the city has a laid back culture.

Yes the reality is changing. People of Hyderabad are resilient, they have seen communal riots, they have seen people killing each other.

Life doesn’t stop because of a bomb blast. The only way we retort is to get back on track.

Isidore Phillips,

Divya Disha These terrorists will come and do what ever they want to do. But they cannot dampen the spirit of Hyderabadis.

All these events are aimed at creating havoc among people and put one against the other, which will not happen.

Why did they have to kill innocent people who work hard and go out with their families after a long day’s work?

If it was riots that they wanted, then they should have thought twice.

People living here look out for each other no matter what.

The numbers of educated people have shot up and citizens are looking forward to development rather than chaos. No matter what people do to inflict damage, we as citizens will stand together.

Mohd. Yousuf Hussain,

Sweet shop owner, Charminar I really think that communal riots are out of the question. People of Hyderabad know that these events are aimed at creating chaos.

But Hyderabadis did not retort to any violence because they know that one thing will lead to another and that won’t be good.

Also, with a lot of development that is taking place, people here know to support each other in a time of crisis which is what they did.”

As a Hyderabadi, I am shocked by the event. But at the same time, I salute the true spirit of Hyderabad’s, because it was the people who got back Hyderabad to normal after a ghastly incident like that.

It was their way of saying; we will stand up to any adversity, no matter what.

Vinita Panday,

Lecturer, Nizam College After the Mecca Masjid blast and now the twin blasts, Hyderabadis have proved their spirit of brotherhood.

The city has gone past the ‘communal tensions phase’. More than the Government, it was the initiative of Hyderabadis who cut across religion and stood up against such desperate attempts to create indifferences among people.

With the kind of support that the people in this city have for each other, they understand that it was the work of some anti-social elements. It was encouraging to see Hyderabadi’s bouncing back to normal life the very next day.

Chetan Swarup,

People are more enlightened now thanks to the educational and employment opportunities available to them.

The maturity levels are also increasing and they do understand that violence will not lead to anything but damage their own lives.

The trend also indicates the responsible political leadership emerging in all the parties, which are changing in tune with the aspirations of the people.

People have sent a strong message to the nation that they are changing for the better.

Prof. Suleman Siddiqi,

Vice-Chancellor, OU
