THE BANGALORE University Department of Political Science and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) New Delhi, have jointly organised a three-day teaching session on “International Humanitarian Law” at the university department from August 30 to September 1. The programme is designed to provide participants a better understanding of IHL and refugee law in the faculties of Political Science, International Relations, Defence Studies and Human Rights in India. The Acharya Institute of Management and Sciences, Hospitality Management programme, affiliated to Bangalore University, has organised an international seminar on “Sustainable eco initiatives in tourism and hospitality”, in association with ITC Windsor, Bangalore. This is the third successful cooperative initiative being taken up with ITC at the international level on the implementation of eco concepts. The two-day seminar will be held at the institute premises in Peenya, from September 17. Resource persons are drawn from various leading hospitality industries and universities both in India and abroad. The key note address will be delivered by Russell Arthur Smith, Vice Dean of Cornell - Nanyang Institute of Hospitality Management, Singapore. This seminar will be inaugurated by I.M. Vittala Murthy, Secretary, Tourism and Kannada and Culture Department. AIMS has invited papers on the topic. Selected papers will be presented during the seminar.
