MGP quits GDA
Special Correspondent
PANAJI: In a late evening development on Wednesday, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) announced its decision to quit the month-old Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA), an Opposition alliance led by the Bhartiya Janata Party which made an aborted bid to come to power by destabilising the Congress-led government of Digambar Kamat last month.
With this, the 20-member strong GDA in a 40-member House, when it claimed majority support to replace the Digambar Kamat government, virtually disintegrated as it was left with 15 members, including 14 of the BJP and one independent. The BJP finds itself isolated again.
