AIS sitting pretty

CHENNAI: Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) XI dominated a rain-shortened second day of the semifinal match against Combined Districts here at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

AIS played itself into a position of such strength, it will almost certainly figure in the title clash of the all-India Buchi Babu invitation tournament.

The Craig Philipson-led side dismissed Districts for 166 in 50 overs on Wednesday, gaining a first-innings lead of 197 before finishing at 109 for three off just 13 overs.

The scores: At MAC: AIS XI 363 for eight and 109 for three in 13 overs (Brendan Drew 51 batting) v Combined Districts 166 in 50 overs (V. Subramania Siva 48, E. Suresh 77 n.o.).

At ICL-Gurunanak: Mumbai 340 for nine v Baroda 109 for four in 52 overs. — Special Correspondent
