Sathyabama posts win

CHENNAI: Sathyabama Deemed University defeated JPR Engineering College 80-48 in a basketball semifinal league match of the Bertram memorial tournaments here on Wednesday.

The results (semifinal league): Sathyabama Deemed University 80 (Manoj Abraham 20, Sninom N. Augustin 26) bt JPR EC 48 (Karthick 17).

Kumar-Dang duo wins

Kumar and Sandeep Dang (62.12 per cent) won the T. Nagar Social Club Open pairs scrambled Mitchell bridge eventon Tuesday.

The results: 1. Kumar & Sandeep Dang (62.12 per cent), 2. R.S. Narayanan & S. Rajaram (61.27), 3. S.K. Chari & K. Natarajan (60.47), 4.Lakshmi Chari & Shenion Ryan (59.51).

Kamakshi scalps seven

D. Kamakshi picked seven wickets for 13 runs as Southern Railway SA beat Challengers CC by 152 runs in the TNCA Women’s Wing league final here recently.

The scores: Southern Railway SA 227 in 89 overs (D. Amaavalli 85, V. Vijayalakshmi 32, V. Vilasini Nair 38) bt Challengers CC 75 in 49 overs (M.D. Thirushkamini 36, D. Kamakshi seven for 13).

Sai in semifinals

R. Sai Avinash beat A. Naveen Kumar 8-3 in the boys’ under-14 quarterfinals of the Mar Baselios memorial State-level tennis tournament here.

Rain plays spoilsport

The TNCA under-19 round robin matches between City I and City II and City III and City IV were called off without a ball being bowled on the second and final day because of rain. Each team was awarded three points.

Gold for Agnishwar

Tamil Nadu’s J. Agnishwar won the 50m Group I breaststroke gold clocking 30.39 seconds in the fifth AASF Asian age-group championships in Jakarta.
