ARCOT: Murugan (45), owner-cum-driver of a tourist car attached to the taxi stand in the Arcot bus stand, was found shot dead under mysterious circumstances near his abandoned taxi beneath the over-bridge on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway at Thenkadappanthangal near Walajapet on Wednesday.
According to the police, a stranger hired the taxi of Murugan on Tuesday for going to Kancheepuram and return to Arcot on the same night.
But, Murugan did not return home.
On a complaint from his wife Sasikala, the Walajapet police registered a case.
Two fired cartridges and some unfired cartridges were found inside the car. Five special teams have been formed to nab the culprit.
