PUDUKOTTAI: The third phase of distribution of free colour television sets started in the district on Thursday. A total of 1,720 TV sets will be distributed to the residents of three villages. Inaugurating the distribution at Tirumayam, near here, Commercial Taxes Minister S.N.M. Ubayathullah said Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had ordered the distribution of house-site pattas to three lakh persons before March next year. Collector S.J. Chiru said Rayavaram village in Tirumayam Assembly constituency, Piladipatti in Kulathur and Vandaanviduthi in the Alankudi Assembly segment would be covered under the third phase. So far, 33,310 beneficiaries got the TV sets in the first and second phases.
