KOTTAYAM: The CPI-ML (Red Flag) will stage a protest march on September 4 to the Cochin Naval Base as a mark of opposition to the proposed Indo-US Civilian Nuclear Agreement. Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, party’s state secretary P.C. Unnichekkan said the nation had made major strides in the area of nuclear research in spite of the disengagement of major powers in the nuclear sector. According to him, the 1 2 3 Agreement cannot be viewed as a stand alone one, but a crucial step towards getting into the strategic interest net of the US. The country is slowly being absorbed into the area of influence of the United States, he said. — Staff Reporter
