‘Work to revive traditional art forms’

Belgaum: Theatre personality Enagi Balappa on Thursday inaugurated the two-day national seminar on ‘Promotion and preservation of folklore and fine arts in the age of globalisation’ and called for concerted efforts to revive dying folklore and traditional art forms of the country.

The seminar was organised by the city-based SKE Society’s Rani Parvati Devi College of Fine Arts and Commerce. R.V.S. Sundaram, Director, Prasaranga, University of Mysore, delivered the key-note address and SKE Society chairman Sudhir Shanbhag presided over the inaugural function. It was followed by technical sessions. Later in the evening, a demonstration session on folk arts was held.

Delegates from Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh are participating in the seminar. Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar will deliver the valedictory address on Friday.
