BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday rejected a bail petition by Mohammad Koya of Kerala, who is accused by the State of having helped two Al-Badr terrorists from Pakistan set up home in Mysore. Opposing his bail plea, the State Public Prosecutor (SPP), S. Dore Raju, contended that Koya who owned a furniture shop in Mysore, had knowingly and wantonly helped the terrorists in establishing their residence in Mysore. He said Koya had furnished a statement before the Regional Transport Officer certifying that one of the Pakistan-based terrorist was his employee for several years. The SPP filed voluminous records of the investigation reports about the activities of the group apart from statement of objections detailing Koya’s role. Apprehending that Koya might flee if he were to be released on bail and also tamper with the witnesses, the SPP urged the court to reject the bail plea. Justice H. Bilappa accepted the contention of the State and rejected the bail plea. Settlement
Bangalore University on Thursday informed the Karnataka High Court that it was nearing a settlement with the Advocates Association of Bangalore regarding the land adjacent to the City Civil Court complex. The association had sought part of the land belonging to the university for use of advocates. The University advocate informed a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Rammohan Reddy that the land had already been inspected and that a settlement would be arrived shortly. The Bench adjourned further hearing on the case.
