For hassle-free traffic: Construction of a median progressing on Kangeyam Road in Tirupur on Monday.
TIRUPUR: Widening of the busy Kangeyam Road, from two lanes to four lanes, will be completed in two months.
Construction work
The road work is progressing fast at a cost of around Rs.3 crore, as part of Rs.70-crore Tirupur road widening project announced by the Tamil Nadu Government last year.
Construction of road median is also progressing in the 5 km stretch from CTC depot to Nallur junction.
Once the construction is over the road will be first to have the road median on entire stretch in town, Highways officials say.
Encroachments
At present, the highway leading to Tiruchy and Karur has uneven width ranging 7 metres to 10 metres from Gayathri Marriage Hall and Nallur.
Officials say that the width will be streamlined to 15.7 metres with median in two months.
A senior official here said that the culvert, near the Gayathri Mahal, would also be widened in proportion to the width of the road soon to facilitate hassle-free movement of vehicles.
The officials said that they would take efforts to remove encroachments from CTC depot to Tirupur South Police Station simultaneously in coordination with the municipal authorities.
