THANJAVUR: A coconut awareness conference will be held on September 2 at the Coconut Research Station at Veppankulam near Pattukottai in Thanjavur district for the benefit of coconut growers of the State.
Officials and scientists from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, officers from the Coconut Development Board and the agriculture department, senior bank officials and coconut-based entrepreneurs will participate in the conference and deliver special lectures.
In Tamil Nadu, coconut is grown in 4.07 lakh hectares and records a total production of 4,097 million nuts with at the rate of 11,474 nuts per hectare.
About 10 million people are engaged in coconut-related industries either directly or indirectly.
