BANGALORE: The super division league hockey tournament staged by the KSHA will be played in two phases over two venues here from September 1 to 22.
The tournament also has a new sponsor this year with KBC Build Tech India (P) Ltd. taking up the title sponsorship from Deccan Herald.
The league has been hit by the withdrawal of a couple of premier teams. The teams did not want to play on the patched up turf at the Hockey Stadium.
KSHA, however, did some damage control and planned the league in two phases with Tier II being staged at the KSHA Stadium in which ASC, SAI, MEG, Central Excise, HAL, Army XI (Green), IAF and Fortis will participate. Fortis is a new team in the league. The teams in Tier I, which will be played at the SAI turf at Kengeri, include IOCL, Army XI (Red), Canara Bank and Karnataka State Police.
Four qualifying teams from Tier II would join the teams seeded into Tier 1 directly.
The top three teams will receive Rs. 1.25 lakh, Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 respectively.
