SRINAGAR: Five militants, including two self-styled commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen, were arrested on Thursday in separate operations in north Kashmir. The self-styled commanders, Nazir Ahmad Pathan alias Umar Gul of Hadiwala-Gool and Mohammad Shafi Kasana alias Zahir of Sangaldan village of Ramban, were arrested by the police from Baramulla district, a police spokesman said. The duo was among the most wanted militants and was active in Gool area of Jammu since the last 10 years, he said, adding they had recently shifted their base to Kashmir and were planning to step up subversive activities in the valley. — PTI
