NEW DELHI: The sting operation carried out by a Hindi television news channel on Thursday showing a woman teacher with the Asaf Ali Road branch of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya allegedly pushing students into prostitution has come as a rude shock to parents in the Capital.
Zubair of Darya Ganj said he could not imagine a teacher indulging in such a shameful act. “It is such a noble profession. Teachers are worshipped for what they do, educating us and our children. If what has been shown in the sting operation is true, I do not know where to send our daughters,” he said.
An angry Shakeela said her daughter also studies in a Government school. “The teacher should be hanged. The school authorities should take strict action against such teachers and dismiss them from service immediately,” she said.
“Such people indulge in these acts to make quick money and in that process they forget that they are destroying the lives of young girls,” Shakeela added.
Rashid of Turkman Gate said the local residents could not control their anger when they learnt that one of the teachers of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya was forcing students into the flesh trade. “Our sisters and daughters study in that school. Now that the police have taken the teacher into custody, they should grill her to know if she had exploited any girl here,” he said, adding that the protesters roughed up the teacher tearing her clothes, but the police intervened and whisked her away.
