Package to develop tanks in Tarikere

CHIKMAGALUR: K.S. Eswarappa, Minister for Water Resources, has promised a delegation from Tarikere taluk that a new package will be implemented to rejuvenate all tanks in the taluk.
According to a press release issued here on Thursday, Mr. Eswarappa told members of the delegation in Bangalore on Wednesday that an office would be opened and officials posted to implement the package.
Responding to an appeal from the members that digging an underground tunnel in Tarikere taluk to bring water from the proposed Upper Bhadra Project would have an adverse impact on groundwater sources, the Minister said that he would consult experts in this regard. They urged him to initiate steps to provide water to drought-prone areas of the taluk.
