NEW DELHI: Along with Aditya Narain Mishra, candidate of the Indian National Teachers’ Congress (INTEC)-Academics for Action and Development (AAD) combine, who won the post of president of Delhi University Teachers’ Association for the next two years, 15 members of the Executive were also elected late on Wednesday night.
Of these, four each are from the Democratic Teachers’ Front and AAD, three from INTEC, two from the National Democratic Teachers’ Front and two are independents.
The new DUTA president along with these 15 members of the Executive will now elect from among themselves other office-bearers -- vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer.
AAD chairman S. S. Rathi on Thursday said a fair deal for the teachers in the new pay revision, reforms in the selection process for teachers and granting weightage to academic record and teaching experience in appointments on permanent posts are the priority tasks for his party representatives.
“The other issues on the agenda include a review of the B.A. (restructured) and B.Sc. courses, continuance of old pension scheme and timely promotion of teachers,” said Mr. Rathi in a release.
Meanwhile, DTF has reiterated its “commitment to work for a strong and united DUTA that is committed to fight against the Governmental policy of privatisation and commercialisation of higher education”. “In the name of expansion of higher education and improving its quality, the Government is opening up this sector to private players ” said DTF president Sanjaya Kumar Bohidar.
