Amnesty extended by 2 months

Abu Dhabi: An additional grace period of two months has been given to those staying illegally in the UAE to leave the country. The current period expires on September 3.

Interior Minister Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan made the announcement on Thursday.

The Minister explained that only those who had completed the legal procedures in this regard could benefit from the extension and no new processing would be allowed after September 3.

The decision was taken to facilitate the legal departure of all those who stay illegally in the country, he said adding that this was to help those who were not able to book tickets and to facilitate their departure without complications.

Brigadier Mohammed Salem bin Owaidha Al Khaili, Director-General, Naturalisation & Residency Department, said that the Violators Monitoring Section would begin an intensive inspection campaign on September 4. — WAM
