Delhi-Toronto flights good for business Flights to Singapore have good occupancy
Bangalore: Jet Airways is likely to launch a daily flight between Bangalore and Singapore from December, its General Manager U. Harish Shenoy said here on Thursday. Speaking to presspersons after displaying the enlarged cabin configuration on its new overseas flights, he said, “We wanted to include Bangalore in the overseas schedule, with Brussels in Belgium as a hub for connecting flights to North America, but could operate the flights only from Chennai for want of a suitable slot at the HAL airport. We may now have to wait till the Devanahalli airport is operational next year.” Slot
For the type of smaller aircraft to be operated to Singapore, it may not be difficult to find a suitable slot by December and more international flights from major southern cities is practical, according to Shreekripa Ranjan, Assistant Manager-Sales (International). Average seat reservation figures indicated that almost 40 per cent of passengers on overseas flights were from the South. While Delhi-Toronto flights were good for business, because of the large ethnic Punjabi population there, flights from Chennai to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur had good occupancy rates. The Jet Airways pricing was competitive enough compared to foreign operators, she said.
