CPI(M-L)-sponsored Bhagalpur bandh peaceful

Special Correspondent

PATNA: The Bhagalpur bandh on Friday, called by the CPI (M-L) and supported by the RJD protesting the indignity inflicted on the alleged petty thief Aurangzeb alias Salim by the police on Monday, passed off peacefully.

The police rounded up the supporters of the bandh for blocking roads and closing shops. They were released later. The State government dismissed constable Ramchandra Rai, while a similar proposal against the ASI of Nathnagar police station L.B. Singh was under consideration.

The Opposition parties continued to register their protests across the State.
