Government owed an explanation as to why the routine recruitment procedure was not followed
PUDUCHERRY: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday demanded immediate cancellation of the appointment of part-time assistants in the Police Department. National council member of the CPI R. Viswanathan told reporters here that the appointments were made without conducting any test or interview. He asked the Government to immediately quash the appointments. The applicants were asked to appear before the Recruitment Committee for certificate verification a few weeks ago. After verification of the documents, 48 persons had been appointed in Puducherry region, he alleged. In the normal practice, Government Departments conducted practical tests and interview for the appointment of part-time staff, Mr. Viswanathan pointed out. The Government owed an explanation to the people as to why the routine recruitment procedure was not followed by the department, he said. When asked to comment on Pradesh Congress Committee president P. Shanmugham’s remark that some of the allies were holding agitations to strengthen their parties, Mr. Viswanathan pointed out that it was natural for a party to grow when they took up issues concerning the public. He reiterated that the party would continue to focus on issues concerning the common man.
