Commercial complex needs repairs

Dilapidated: The commercial complex at Punjai Puliyampatty. –

ERODE: The commercial complex of the Punjai Puliampatty Municipality, requires immediate attention of the officials. The panchayat was recently made a Grade-III Municipality. The complex was built when it was a town panchayat. More than 15 shops including sweetmeat stall, cool drink stall, meat and fish stall, hotel are functioning in it. When damages were detected on the building it was brought under the notice of municipality officials.

They were yet to carry out repairs, said Ganapathy, a shopkeeper. Officials said that they were waiting for the council’s approval to carry out repairs. But many contractors are reluctant to take up the works, because of the abnormal rise sand and cement prices. If the damages to the complex increases, many shopkeepers are planning to vacate the shops.
