Rs. 10 crore sanctioned for Krishnagiri district as part of e-district project

Hosur: Minister for Local Administration M.K. Stalin on Friday inaugurated a rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit-cum-call centre at Chanachandiram near here.
The building, which was in a dilapidated stage, had now been renovated and put to good use, he said. The call centre would impart training as well as provide employment to Plus-Two educated youth from naxal-affected villages in Krishnagiri district.
A total of 25 workstations had been set up in the call centre for this purpose, he said.
Mr. Stalin said that multi-national companies such as Object webtech and Leo Soft had tied up with FOSTeRA (Fostering technologies in rural areas) to outsource their back office work. About 75 youth from naxal-prone villages would be trained round the clock in the call centre. They would be given training in typing, English grammar, communication skills, data conversion and XML tagging.
Collector Santhosh Babu said that internet connectivity would be provided at village panchayats and computers interlinked to facilitate the easy distribution of community and birth certificates at the doorsteps of the people.
The Union Government had sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for Krishnagiri as part of the e-district project.
The district administration had constituted a FOSTeRA society including members from the Hosur Industrial Association and Hosur Small and Tiny Industries Association. The society would monitor the functioning of the BPO, the Collector added. Ashok Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, FOSTeRA, Krishnagiri MP E.G. Sugavanam, MLAs T. Senguttuvan, Gopinath, Dilli Babu and T. Ramachandiran spoke.
