Teams formed to arrest murder accused

Belgaum: The police have formed teams to arrest Praveen Shintre and his gang members wanted in 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder, rape, extortion and kidnapping, and rape and murder of Sheetal Chougale on August 11. Additional Superintendent of Police S.K. Hegde said here on Friday that teams had stepped up investigation.

Even as Mr. Hegde was speaking to this correspondent, Meera Parmekar of Laxminagar, who is living near the bungalow where Sheetal was allegedly raped and murdered, told the officer that she had informed the police about the immoral activities taking place in the bungalow on many occasions in the past two years. But no action had been taken. She said miscreants had damaged electricity lines near her house and urged Mr. Hegde to provide security to her.
