Constable held for assault

CHENNAI: A 52-year-old subedar, attached to the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), was attacked by a constable attached to the Bomb Detection Disposal Squad (BDDS) of BCAS on Wednesday night.

Mr. Vijayakumar sustained grievous injuries in the leg and was provided treatment.

According to officials, in a quarrel which broke out between the constable, Arumugam, and Mr. Vijayakumar in the BDDS complex, Arumugam allegedly brandished a small knife and attacked Mr. Vijayakumar who sustained injuries in the leg.

A case under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) was registered. Arumugam was remanded to custody, the Airport police said.
