Hosur: Nagojanahalli and Kelamangalam town panchayats have been selected for implementation of All Town Panchayats Anna Renaissance Scheme in Krishnagiri district in the current fiscal. The State Government would implement the scheme in all 561 town panchayats in the State in a phased manner, Minister for Local Administration M.K. Stalin has said.
Laying the foundation stone for the new integrated bus stand at Hosur here on Friday, the Minister said that the scheme was introduced to implement various projects in town panchayats in an integrated manner.
A total of 140 town panchayats would be covered in the State in the current year.
Development works to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh would be implemented in each town panchayat. In addition, a sum of Rs. 507 crore had been allocated for implementation of the Anaithu Gramam Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) in 2,534 village panchayats in the State.
Of this, Rs. 13.40 crore had been allotted to take up development works in 67 village panchayats in Krishnagiri district.
Mr. Stalin said the State Government had waived loans obtained by municipalities to the tune of Rs. 700 crore in the current year. The revised property tax slabs for A, B and C zones in the Hosur Municipality had been fixed at Rs. 1.25, Re. 1 and 90 paise following pleas from the elected representatives and municipal council.
The Minister also opened new backward classes hostels at Maharajakadai, Pannandur and Velampatti and distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 31.62 crore to 5,565 beneficiaries.
