SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Eight councillors of the Srivilliputtur Municipality belonging to the Opposition parties picketed road in front of the municipal office here on Friday.
They opposed the Vice-Chairman, Azhagarsamy, for conducting the council meeting and passing 52 resolutions before the members of the Opposition parties could take part.
The emergency meeting that began around 4.50 p.m. was wound up in 10 minutes. Fourteen members belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Congress and three independents participated in the meeting. The Bharatiya Janata Party councillor, V.K. Ramasamy, led the protest in which All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam members, along with two independents, took part.
